Could those who own this drive tell me your Motherboard BIOS detect this as drive PIO Mode 4 or UDMA33.

Currently, I'm using ASUS CUSL board and was detected as PIO Mode 4.

I'm running on Windows 98 SE.

BTW, what program could I use to measure the transfer speed?

Thanks.

I’m not at my own computer now, but I can’t se why running in pio mode is that bad. It’s limited to 16Mb/s transfer but it never reach such speeds anyway. But make sure that DMA(DMA and UDMA is NOT the same!) is enabled in Windows.

Measure the transferspeed with CD-Speed: www.cdspeed2000.com

Mine is detected as UDMA-33. Make sure you have the latest motherboard BIOS, and check all the BIOS settings.

Even though PIO mode should work fine, UDMA-33 would be preferable, especially if you have other drives on the same IDE controller.

Result using Nero CDSpeed 2000 (version 0.85e Beta):

Interface Burst Rate: 12MB/s (with DMA on)

Seek Times:- Random: 86ms 1/3: 96ms Full: 165ms

Speed: Current 26.29x

What is the Interface Burst Rate for UDMA33 interface?
