Liteon 811s with TY01

A friend of mine is trying to burn TY01 media with his 811s and using dvdinfopro it is only saying he can burn at 4x, he is using HSOR firmware.

And the burns are taking VERY long like over an hour!

Is this a firmware issue? I had a liteon 811s and I remember burning TY01 at 8x.

He has nothing wrong with his system as I burned some DVD’s BenQ and Prodisk both 8x dvd @8x no problem.

Also these are not fake TY disks, they are That’s 4x made in Japan and burn perfect at 8x on my BenQ DW1620.

Below is the dvdinfopro from my system of the disk type.

thanks for any advice.

The YUDEN000T01 version 00 is only rated at 4x. The 01 version is rated at 8x. If he applies the recommended tweaks with OmniPatcher, he will then be able to burn them at 8x. However I cannot understand why at 4x they are taking an hour, if other media burns at an acceptable speed. Usually DMA problems would be the cause of a drive burning all media slowly.

Yeah it was odd to me also. But he did have nforce drivers installed on the IDE and that could have been the long burning problem, I took them off for him.

Next time I am over I will patch it for him.
