If I were to upgrade from a SONY DRU500 to a Liteon 811S how could I theoretically get NERO 5 (supplied with OEM Sony) to recognise the Liteon.
There is a way of amending the registry (I think) to add the Liteon - does anyone know how?
Not that I would upgrade it of course.

I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to ask here. When you say update, do you mean switch out your DRU500 to the LiteOn or flash the firmware somehow. Either way though you shouldn’t have to change anything. Nero isn’t specific for any drive and should work with any drive.

I’ve sorted it now, got a copy of NERO 6.
My Nero 5 came with an OEM drive and when this happens the copy only works with that drive.

NO - Nero bundled with a drive IS drive specific i.e. Plextor version of Nero, supplied with a Plextor drive, will only let you write to a Plextor drive!
And yes - this can be altered in the registry.
