Liteon 5045 upgrade

Afternoon CDFreaks,
I’ve read alot of websites trying to fix the problem I’ve got, and all the experts seem to be here, so I’m sure someone will come up with an answer;

After crashing the 160Gb HD in my Lite0n 5045, I decided to replace it with a bigger HD of 500Gb hoping to use some of the techniques I read about here. I produced a partiton on the drive but didn’t format it, then used fa32format -c128 to create the correct cluster sizes before installing the HD in the machine, but unfortuneately it didn’t work. I tested the theory by only creating a partiton of 80Gb before formatting the drive and this worked fine. I’ve upgraded the firmware to version 204.
Has anyone got any gems of wisdom ?
cheers
Jez.

some told me it will only format and use a max of 160GB.

The only thing I can see from the info provided is that you didn’t or could’nt copy the LITEONFAT folder to your PC because the 160GB crashed.

The recorder itself will only reformat up to 160GB because that’s what it expect to see.

Seeing that you’re familiar with formatting, I’ll cut to the chase;

If you have it working at 80GB, that means the LITEONFAT folder in now on the HDD.
1- Back-up your recordings, do a HDD full erase in the recorder
2- Bring HDD to PC and copy the LITEONFAT folder
3- FDISK the 500GB full size, unformatted
4- Reformat with fat32formater c-128 for 64K clusters
5- Copy the LITEONFAT folder to the 500GB
6- Make sure both drive and hdd are on CS (Cable select)
7- Install in recorder

Should be all good afterwards
