Im thinking about purchasing a Liteon 451s DVD/RW

Has anyone got this writer?
Is there anything I should know before I make a purchase?

Very good DVD writer… with potential to overclock and make it even better. You should ask in the LiteON forum though…

strange, when did yours die? i haven’t heard of many going out like that. but 451s is a great writer, and w/ the firmware hack, burning at 8x for me has yielded great results. i just hope it continues.

there are someone also have this problem…
like this http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=85907&goto=newpost

the reason for me is i use the wrong firmware upgrade
i use the firmware that can upgrade 411s to 811s
but my drive is 451s…

but now i can solve the problem now… use the GSB6 firmware
this is the official firmware of 451s… i wonder if i upgrade it to GS0A or GS08 (GS08 is the official firmware)

what are the differences between them?

THANKS

GS0A supports the bitsetting function.

I don’t believe that GS08 does.

Searching is your friend…

is gs0a better than gs08?

All I can say is that GS08 is offical and GS0A is not.
You can draw your own conclusions…
