Hello,

I have a quick question that my initial search hasn’t found an answer to. When burning with CloneDVD, and I select 4x as the “preferred” write speed, will it still revert back to 2x if needed? I ask because I have a batch of Maxell 4x DVD+R’s that are rated to 4x, but burn in 23 minutes time (which I assume to be 2x speeds).

Every disc has played in my set top units (Pioneer), but I’m wondering why it won’t run at 4x? Has anyone with this combination had the same issue with the Maxell media?

Do you use AnyDVD ?

Nope, I don’t use AnyDVD. Straight backup from DVD Shrink and burn in CloneDVD using existing files on HD.

As an aside, I selected 4x as the “preferred” speed for each burn - rather than setting to “maximum.”

Is this just my drive being finicky about the media, or a bug in some speed detection algorithm? Is there a way to bypass the check and try the 4x speed that the media is rated at?
