Thank you very much for posting these results. Very interesting. :clap::flower:

I’ve been looking for some reliable Benq scans from this drive for about a decade. Have been keeping an eye open for one on Ebay for years.

Lite-On CD-RW were highly praised back in the day for their writing quality. But we didn’t have Benq ADQ testing back then, so I’ve always wondered if it was justified. But it looks like an excellent writer up to 48x, and more than acceptable at 52x (on TY). :clap:

Is there any chance you could post some CDSpeed scans of the same discs using the SOHR-5238S? (At 48x, and if possible 32x & 16x.)

I’ve always had a suspicion (based on other peoples’ results & reviews) that this drive ‘underreports’ C1 errors compared with the older LTR drives, Benqs and Optiarcs. (But not as badly as the notorious 5239V.)

(P.S. You don’t have an LTR-52xx by any chance?)

Of course. Unfortunately, I don’t have those discs any more. But, below are some scans from a fresh set of burns.

Yes, I have an LTR-52327S…somewhere around here. :confused:

Thank you, you’re a living legend. :flower::bow:

Suspicions confirmed, the SOHR-5238S does seem to under report compared to the others.

The results don’t seem as obviously fanciful as the 5239V, but I’m not convinced it is simply a better reader (i.e. encountering fewer errors) than Benqs, Optiarcs & Plextors.

Will continue watching this thread with great interest. :flower:

Thank you for the kind words, Ibex. I’m glad I was able to help confirm your suspicions. I’ll be posting additional scans soon for your enjoyment.
