Lite-on shm165h6s DL burning error

vbimport

#1

I am currently having issues burning both cds and dvd +r DLs. It seems I receive the “Power Calibration error” on certain cd types, but so far on all available retail dvd +r dl media. I have tried Verbatim, sony, memorix, ritak, and Staples brand.

I purchased a larger power supply 485 watts. Nothing changed.

I searched here and found suggestions for new ide cables. I change 4 times all brand new cables. Nothing changed.

In looking for a solution I discovered there where many drives shipped with faulty lens causing CDR compatibility issues.

How can I check to see if my drive is within this group?
Also what else can I check?
I have included the Nero 6 error log to aid in troubleshooting.

Thanks

I think that the source is the problem here.

#4

How do I fix this?

and Firmware is the most recent from lite-on.

I tried the new smart burn utility and enabled hypertuning both force and online. Recieved a new error and burnt another coaster.

Here is the nero error log. Again the same record type unknown.

Not by using mediocre media instead of MKM 001.

I don’t know from where the source/data is you are trying to burn here, but I recommend to rip a full DVD in ISO mode using DVDDecrypter to hdd, then burning it with ImgBurn.

From where do you got Nero 6.6.1.4d? This were only bundled with some NEC 3551 and NEC 4551 drives sold in europe…

#6

The image is history videos I made into a DVD. That version of Nero came bundled with my lite-on burner.

As far a s media goes I made 6 coasters of my vertibatuim media checking searched for suggestions.

I receive this error even when I burn with dvddecryptor.

Is ImgBurn another burning software?

#7

Imgburn is the newer DVDDecrypter.

First burn you use Verbatim DL, second burn you use some Ritek DL.

The 165H6S should be able to burn a DL image, if the image you try to burn have no errors, to a Verbatim DL.

What program have you used to do the image.

the drive are attached to the 925x chipset IDE plug

The raptors RAID 1,0 setup is set on the ich6r controller, and the plextor 712SA and Maxtor Drive are on a silicon image 3114R in RAID mode Both do not have the option to turn on DMA on hardware.

I have used imgburn, dvddecryptor, and nero. My previous lite-on drive burnt both media fine, however it only burnt 2.4x DL as a max speed (1st gen DLs burner)

This new drive burnt dvd +rs with no problem, but the lite scribe never quite worked right.

SIL in RAID mode and ODDs attached???

yup per plextor this is the only reliable way to connect their 712SA. They prefer the 3114R over the ich6r

I’m using a SiI 3114 but it’s SATA only. Is your drive SATA or does the 3114 come in two flavors?

My SATA burner hooked to my 3114 runs DMA mode 5. Mine is a Rosewill PCI to SATA card. The BIOS in my card can’t be set to non-RAID, although the manual says it can. I think my manual doesn’t apply to the BIOS I have. So I have to install a RAID driver. But the good news is it will handle non-RAID burners and non-RAID hard drives. My Litey 16a7 is hooked to it and it burns just fine, but I’ve never burned a DL.

yeah my plextor works fine. its the liteons on the IDE that give me crappy burns no matter what media.
