Im looking for a good cheap external dvd recorder for my girlfriends laptop for christmas gift.

And im wondering if the Lite-On SHM-165P6SU is the same model as SHM-165P6S, besides it is external? Is this a good drive? Any other reccomendations?

There are some reviews on CDfreaks.com, and there are lots of postings in the Liteon/Sony section.
Any other reccomendations?
DIY. Get an internal 165P6S or its Sony branded twin (DW-G120A or DRU-120C)* and an external enclosure of your choice. Take care about the chipset, the drive works excellent with Cypress AT2 or Genesys Logic GL811E chipset.
