Lite On LTR-52327S Burn Probs with CD-RW's at 701 MB's

Tried several times to burn a AVI file to a (actually several) Memorex 12X CD-RW in Nero ver 7. Have the latest firmware for the drive. The DAO burn goes to 99% then kicks out a write error - does the same thing in actual and simulation modes in Nero. Tried the same disk and file on another machine with a Plextor 740A DVD burner and the disk burns without any problems. Can post the error log if necessary. Did see an orange lite briefly for a second during the burn process - not sure what it means. Over burning is enabled in Nero absolute at 82 minutes.

Problem with the drive or media compatibility problems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Heres the log file. I also tried burning at 4X and got the same Write Failed error. Strange thing is that if I try a smaller file it burns no problem.

All I can say is that not all burners will overburn.

Best also to update Nero to the latest version, apparently less buggy.

  1. Nero should be updated.
  2. Use better media, see the log, it clearly says that this media is a bad choice.
  3. Overburning on RW media - that should be avoided, ever.

Well, I defrag’d and took the disk that completed successfully on another machine and it did burn - no errors in the log. Tried another disk same brand but not used in the Plextor and it failed - will try another type of CDRW and do a complete cleaning to see if things improve. CD-R’s (Memorex) still can burn the test file on the Lite-On. Last resort is to try the Lite-On on the machine that houses the Plextor to see if that changes anything.
