This drive is a 12x10x32 that I bought when it first came out...was a great working drive UNTIL I decided to update it :P.
I dl'd the LS3J firmware exe from Lite-On, said a prayer, and hit the start button. ASPI error. Wonderful - the drive is now f*d. I downloaded several different ASPI packages, no success.
I did a lot of research, and came across the "jumper trick" and pflash.
This worked only once, and I just used the bundled firmware, which happened to be LS17. My drive was originally LS38. While it would boot and burn, it made some unsettling noises, a lot of coasters, and took forever to read.
So I decided to pflash it again, same method, LS3I firmware. This time, I was confronted with about a dozen "compare errors" listing off hex addresses. Flash failed, drive is once again dead. This happens with every firmware I try, including LS17 and LS38. Now once again the drive is dead, flashes red & orange on boot, BIOS can't see it.
What can I do to fix the compare errors? Has anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks for reading.
