Hello,

Until recently I have had no problems with my Lite-ON EZ-Dub External USB DVD Drive.

But know when there is no disc in it it says DVD-RW Drive. When I put a Dvd in it it Plays.

But when I put a Blank Dvd Media in it I have tried everything +, -R, etc. Different Brands, including my two favorites Verbatim and Tayo Yuden. And everytime I put a blank DVD Media in it, it automatically in front of my eyes under My Computer change from DVD-RW drive to CD DRIVE ???
And will not accept any Blank DVD MEDIA. I already have a DVD Rom in my Computer.

I bought the external to exchange Dvd information from disc to disc. So right now this drive is Basically Useless to me.

Can any one Please Help Me…

Should do a search first, but the CD Drive thing is a quirk with windows xp.

Does software like ImgBurn work?

@ofield - you’ve been here awhile now, long enough to know crossposting is against forum rules.

I am having a similar issue with XP.

I just purchased EZ DUB, and when I press ‘DUB’… insert a DVD, it attempts to do the image file… which eventually generates an error, and ejects the DVD. I tried this several times, and noticed when it was starting to read… it was reading from CD-ROM… How does one resolve this issue, and be able to make copies of my movies?

I am tired of buying the same kids movie, as my daughter (now 4, but destroyed several from 2-3yo) loves hockey, and has destroyed several of her DVD’s.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Denea

Hi and Welcome!

please note, that the EZ-Dub feature is not designed to backup video DVD discs. Most of these are protected, so plain copying will not work.
I am sure, the limitations of EZ-Dub are explained in the manual that came with your drive.

You might do some reading in our Copy Movie section in order to get an idea how to do that and what software and hardware is needed.

Then just don’t buy new discs. If you daughter destroys the discs, she’ll learn it the hard way. Disc damaged - no video to watch. Simple that is.
