I just bought a Lite-on DX-20A4h from Newegg. Their website shows a firmware update ( QP5A ), but when i run it , it says only for DH-20A4H. Called Lite-on, they say its different and no update for my DX unit. Anyone have any thoughts on this ? Thanks…

What is the current firmware on your unit, and can you take a screenshot to show us?

The firmware for the DH-20A4H (internal) and the DX-20A4H (external) is the same. The flasher for the DX model should recognize your drive and allow it to be updated. Are you sure you have an earlier version of the firmware? If it’s already up to date, it may not work. Also, make darn sure that you actually have a model DX-20A4H drive, and I mean that model EXACTLY. Here is the firmware for the DX-20A4H:

Running the above firmware updater should work, but if it doesn’t, then take a look at the Lite-On flash utility:

Honestly I don’t know if I have an earlier firmware. I thought I would run the updater regardless. Lite-on said internal and external are different firmwares. What would be the best way to check the firmware on mine, would it be the flash utility above ? It may be a poor idea, but I generally update firmware as new becomes available. Really appreciate the help from you guys…
PS - the firmware posted above says it is only for the atapi version of the drive model DH-20A4h only, no mention of DX. Thats what i’m confused about.
