I recently reformatted my computer to fresh install Windows Vista Ultimate and SP1. However, I am having a major issue. When I turn on my computer my Lite-On DVDRW LH-20A1H ATA Drive shows up in the bios works correctly. I am able to re-install windows using the drive, However when I get to windows the drive is gone. I go into Computer Management and right click on my computer and scan for new hardware. It detects the drive but for some reason the drive does not appear when Vista loads. Any help getting the drive to appear on its own without having to search for it every time would be appreciated. I have 2 dvd drives. The other drive is HL-DL-ST DVD ROM GDR8164B ATA Drive. I have tried everything. Changing the drives from master to slave, unplugging the DVD ROM drive and only using the DVDRW. I updated to the latest firmware but that still did not solve the problem. I then tried switching power cables but nothing works the windows just does not find the drive.
