Lite-On’s bitsetting tool doesn’t recognize my 832s for some reason. Can someone give me a clue as to why?
An ASPI Installation problem!
That’s what I thought too, however, all my aspi apps recognise and can access the new 832s. ASPICHK also returns the all clear. I’m running the VS04 firmware that the drive came with. Once I get home I’m going to try to flash it to the VS08 and see if that helps.
Liteon programs are especially picky about ASPI. You should just remove ASPI if using Windows XP so that the booktype tool will use SPTI instead.
You could also save yourself the hassle of changing the drive to use DVD-ROM by using the OmniPatcher to modify a firmware to default to DVD-ROM.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll look into them.
I hate being at work when I’d rather be at home tinkering on the ol’ computer.
