Aren’t the Liteon drives really noisy? The cdr drives seem to be.

lite-on are the worst dvd recorder in write quality. just stay away

Still one of the best drives out there. I own both a SOHW-1633 & NEC 3500, I love both of them, this new one will make a nice addition. for noise, I honestly don’t hear anything, for quality, check the forums, you’ll see you may’ve jumped the gun a bit on your comment. Lite-On or NEC, best bangs for your buck.

No, the new LG GSA 4163B is much better in all things that you wrote

cerberus, you need to get yourself some codeguys firmware loaded up. Perfect writes everytime…

Doesn’t this mean that Sony’s drives are just as bad as Liteon seeing as they use their hardware, or do Sony tweak their drive to a higher standard? Either way, I guess Sony will bring out a new model based on this new Liteon version. Probably be called the DRU730.
