What is so great about it? Can someone tell me the differences beetween this and the LTR-48125W?

Hey,
I have pre-orderes this one in Germany. It will come to stores on October,22nd…
The old one, my 48125W is not overclocked and I give it to my 8 year old daughter, because even with Firmware 08 and smatburn disabled, I cannot burn above 12x with certified 40x media any more. I have tried all firmwares and I´m tired of this bullshit, so I ordered the new one !!!

How’s that ? Have you checked if DMA was On or Off ?

DMA is always on. This was the first, I had checked…

Right. Well, in case of malfunction you can always get RMA.

I tried not only nero but WinOnCD 5.02. This ended up in a buffer-underrun after 3 minutes with 32x on my Octron40x certified media. A few days ago I never had any problems with burning…

Which OS are you running.

Could be a fragged HDD that’s struggling to keep up.

Weshy.

do we know for sure the memorex is a Liteon???

I went to the Memorex website the 52x cdrw is not on the website yet…but the 48/24/48 is listed and they refer to Just Burn for buffer underrun tech and Smart burn for monitoring and adapting recording tech for extraction…so is this a liteon…I would be worried this (48x) is a ricoh drive…so I wonder whether the 52x is a Liteon or a ricoh drive…

One more thing the 48xcdrw uses Zone CLV for 48x not PCAV or CAV

So till someone picks up one and confirms it is a liteon I will wait

I have the Memorex 48Maxx 48/24/48.

It’s a Lite-On LTR-48246S drive. I’ve upgraded to the latest Lite-On firmware (SS06) and it works beautifully as a LTR-48246S.

Still waiting to try the Lite-On 52/24/52 firmware - can someone PLEASE post it?

Nealh,

Here’s your confirmation. The Memorex 52MAXX (52/24/52) is definately a Lite-On. At least mine is.

The weird thing is this, there are two labels on my drive, one almost perfectly covering the other. So I carefully lifted the upper right-hand corner of it. So guess what the first label says it is…? A Lite-On LTR-52246S.

The drive even has two Serial labels on it. One says manufactured in April 2002, the other says September 2002.

Anyway, it rocks quite nicely at the moment.

extract firmware .please

I have no problem extracting the firmware from my 52Maxx if someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve read a number of threads and have found all the software you need to burn a NEW firmware onto a drive, but none that will let you actually extract it from the drive.

Any help? Helping me helps you.

Man, thanks for your concern and helping hand !

The stuff you’re looking for you’ll be able to find reading OC-Freak’s MTKFLASH turtorial dated 15-05-02

To backup your firmware type:

MTKFLASH “x” R /B /M filename.bin

Where “x” is a number from 1 to 4:

1: Primary master
2: Primary slave
3: Secondary master
4: Secondary slave

R is for Read out the firmware
/B is to save the firmware as a binary file
/M is to Merge the whole firmware into one file.
filename.bin is just an example, name your file so it will be easy to find back.
I use the firmware version as the name like firmware version XS0U will be xs0u.bin.
Don’t have the filename longer than 8 characters + bin extension.

Good luck !

Ok, so I extracted the 6WS2 firmware from my Memorex 52MAXX drive. So where do I post it?

Dyzan has posted his mail address once in a while here. Look for it…

Im going to wait for the new 72x speed burner to come out :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, here is my copy of the 6WS2 firmware from my Memorex 52MAXX CD-RW drive.

All standard disclaimers apply. If your drive dies, you killed it, not I.

Enjoy. :stuck_out_tongue:
