I've read a lot of forum messages but i keep my doubts.
Pll say thats not possible to o.c. a 32x to a 40x Lite-On "S" series, or to a 48x. Pll also say that they have done it well. > x <
My real problem is to make shure it doesn't damage my recorder and that its possible to make a firmware roalback. I keep thinking like this because I've electronic and informatic hard and software knowledge and i know that laser and motors are easly saturated by a upper current or voltage.
My thought keeps in the doubt of making or not a O.C.
And also (by the reading) it will only gain ~30 seconds.
Another thought, why doesn't the O.C. make the RW speed go faster?
(e.g.: 32x12x40 --> 40x12x40)
I was thinking about O.C. my 32x12x40 to a 40x12x40 or a 48x12x48! but just for a ~30 seconds faster??? If it gain more capabilities... like Mt.Rainier.
And what about the buffer... Why does Lite-on have just 2MB instead of 4 or 8MB like other recorders? It's to make it cheaper or add some advantage having less memory?
Also one of the reason for the thought of O.C the recorder was because some times it gets "asleep". The tray just don't open or close and the system starts hanging. But it also happened once that Nero send a recording failed message and the recorder continued the writing and it was ok. Thats the reason why I haven't also update my recorder and keep it like i've buy it new. Despite Lite-On have already make available a firmware update for it.
The problem with the tray only happens some times when I let a blank CD inside while using Nero for to long and then the tray didn't open. And add happen once after I burn a CD and left the tray open, then the tray didn't close.
Last knowledge: From Lite-On Official Web site
"Note: Once the drive has been upgraded to new firmware, it can NOT be changed back anymore."
Well, I think that's all for now...
