Sorry to start another thread about this, guys, but I've been reading forums and websites for almost 24 hours now, and I feel that I've searched and exhausted all my options.
I purchased the above drive around christmas of this past year, and never really bothered to check it's performance, I just assumed it was working well.
I recently noticed that it reaches3X MAX while ripping a full DL DVD. My Lite-On LDW-411S rips faster than that, and it's an IDE drive! My burn speeds are about the same, I'll add, but I'm not as worried about that as I am the read speeds.
I took every step I could possibly find on the net, including updating my drivers and firmware (including BIOS update), made sure RAID was disabled in the BIOS, confirmed that my optical drive was connected to my built-in SATA chip and not a PCI card, and confirmed that my computer IDE and ATA controllers were not defaulting to PIO mode. I have no idea what else I could possibly do to fix this...I'm really at a loss.
Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated, I would like to reap the full benefits of my SATA!
I feel like I should be posting some test results of some kind, but I've done so many I don't even know where to start. I'll do my best to provide as many test reports as are requested. Here's a report from CPU-Z, so you guys can see my setup:
Thanks in advance!
