Lite-On 160P6S Unable to detect in windows

Hey all this is my first post, had a quick scan thru the other threads but can’t find anything similar.

I have just got a Lite-On 160P6S, and it detects fine on Bios - the problem is that Windows XP won’t detect it. Even tried bribing it with a nice bit of cheese, but still can’t see it.

Works fine on my mates PC, I’ve tried both master and slave settings, auto detect new hardware etc but to no avail.

Its replacing a Pioneer DVD player which I’ve had for years on end.

Any ideas?

if the pioneer has worked all right:

start regedit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

locate and delete “Upperfilters” and “LowersFilters”, then reboot. the drive should be detected after the restart.

Thanks chok0, that kinda fixed it

the drive is now recognised and seems to work ok for the time being, the new problem now is that i have to re-install it each time after reboot… and i have to do it thru control panel each time…

any ideas?

think i’m gonna owe you a few drinks by the end of this, mate!
