Limewire pro 2010

What’s the deal on Limewire Pro? They’re asking for 29.95 for a lifetime membership. Can someone clue me in?

Hi and welcome to the forum

The official limewire website shows the following message:

LimeWire is under a court order dated October 26, 2010 to stop distributing the LimeWire software. A copy of the injunction can be found here. LimeWire LLC, its directors and officers, are taking all steps to comply with the injunction. We have very recently become aware of unauthorized applications on the internet purporting to use the LimeWire name. We demand that all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so. We further remind you that the unauthorized uploading and downloading of copyrighted works is illegal.

So I think that the 29.95 request is a scam.

Limewire has been shutdown under a court order, as mentioned on their official website.

Limewire Pro has also been discontinued as a result, so if you see any website selling this product, it’s a scam.

There is a custom version of Limewire called “Limewire Pirate Edition” created by a small group of developers. This is freely available, which is distributed via BitTorrent and there is no charge for this.

Basically, if you see any website claiming to sell Limewire (pro, 2010, 2011, etc.) it’s a scam!

Also the website clearly says ***If you enrolled in a LimeWire PRO plan after 9/10/10, there is no need to contact us. Your account has been canceled and you will not be charged.***
