I had a hell of a time trying to figure this out. I updated EVERYTHING for lightscribe. Then i finally figured it…16x discs are not capable of using the Lightscribe Contrast utility. They have a thinner layer on them. I figured i would post this so anyone else who had this issue would know not to waste their time.
Welcome to the forum SauronTheMaiar.
I believe that Verbatim 16x LS media can use the LS contrast facility, as long as it’s the 1.2 coating.
The lightscribes i have at 16x do not have a 1.2 coating. You can actually compare a 8x and 16x side by side and see the difference… I ordered these online so i may have gotten ripped… But they burn well and i have had no problems with data corruption.
It’s weird though. It’s as though the program recognizes it as a CD instead of a dvd…It burns with the normal 28min at Best quality.
