LH-20A1H won't burn..suggestions?

vbimport

#1

I just bought this drive about a week ago from Newegg. It reads just fine, it has no problem with my Command and Conquer 3 disc, or any movies I throw in it. However, whenever I try to burn on it, i get a burn process failed message about 10 seconds in. I can post the Nero txt log if that will help.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Yes a Nero log , with serial number removed , would be most useful.

if you need anything else, just ask

edit: thanks for the quick response

Have you tried other media? RITEKG05 is questionable material.

Test the drive as SINGLE MASTER on the end of an 80-wire ribbon cable (disconnect the CDWRITER and set jumper to MAster).

If still problems, try with M$ IDE drivers in stead of nVidia on the Secondary IDE Channel.

#5

Yea, I uninstalled the nForce IDE drivers, put the MS ones back on, and it worked fine.
Kind of off topic, but since the media I have isn’t the greatest, what would be something good to buy? I’m totally clueless about those kinds of things.

#6

I would recommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim
These are generally the most compatible discs, at least in my experience :iagree:

#7

Yep, this drive really likes both :iagree:

#8

Well it certainly seems that newest liteon drives have something against ritek media cause i have some ritek cds that i tried to bur and they burnt well but neither same lity nor any other drive would like to read them.

I’m really pissed off for that and looking for solution … somehow i don’t think firm upgrade will ever solve it.

Benq liked Ritek but Lite-On likes more Prodisc media … pretty strangely if they really merged their rnd.

#9

DMA is off

#10

For the OP? That was rectified by using M$ drivers and not nVidia ones

#11

Look at your Nero Log. It says DMA off for all devices.
