LG GSA4163 - doesnt burn on empty dvds!

LG GSA4163 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer On XP.

Lately the above has stopped burning dvds for me. At the moment I am trying to copy a dvd (i.e dvd to dvd copy) using Nero (also tried Alchol 120%)

In Alcohol 120%
Everytime I click on burn, the empty is ejected from the dvd drive and I get a error saying there is no space on this dvd.

In Nero:
When I click on burn on the copy section, it doesnt detect my empty dvd and asks me to burn an image on the hard disk rather then making a copy!

-Have updated the firmware to V105 which also didnt work.
-Deleted the DVD RAM from device manager, this was detected properly but still problem exists.

Any ideas guys/gals?

Hello devilinlondon and welcome to the forum.

I am not sure about alcohol 120% but with Nero Express, at the first screen that appears when you start the program, there is a box which lets you choose what writer to use. You need to pick your writer (HL-DT-ST GSA-4163B DVD Writer or similar) from that list. From what you describe, it is probably on “Image Writer” at the moment, which means you want to add files to create a disc image on our hard drive. That is why it prompts you to save an image to the hard drive.
