Hi there

My brand new 4120 turning me crazy!!
I have read all the posts here, but I’m new at DVDRW so i dont understand the “tech” language.

I tried to back up some DVD using DVD Shrink + DVDDecryter (to burn)
got no error in burning proccess, but when I play the disk on the deck player there a lot of freeze. The strange thing is that the disk works pretty good on computer…

I dont know if I need to get better media, upgrade firmware, change burning software

My firmware version is A102

Thanks a lot

You may need to use different dvd media, like DVD+R media for your particular DVD player. This site will tell you what type of DVD media you need.

Also, I would suggest you upgrade your firmware to A111.

Thanks a lot, Im checking the link right now

Is A111 stable? Have read lot of people saying that is better to keep original version
Does firmware change the drive capabilities with media?

Thanks again

For the firmware upgrade, it seems to be a mixed bag. I would say, upgrade to A111 and test it out. If it doesn’t do the trick for you, try A110, then A104 and so on… hope you get the idea.

As for the media you use, it’s pretty crap quality… i had some OPTODISC -r and +r and my 4040B only wrote to it at 2x with the latest version. Looks like LG don’t like those type of disks.

definetly the opto’s are causing the problem - terrible media for this burner, especially -r.
i use cmc mage01 which i believe are hp 8x media (i use unbranded), with amazing results.the firmware i use is A110, which was better than a104, and since it is working so well i will not change to A111.
