LG GSA-H62Li Installed but not recognizing disk

Just purchased and installed an LG GSA-H62L 18x Super Multi DVD Writer.
Current System is:
WinXP SP2, 1g mem, memorex DUAL Layer L1 16,
Abit AV8-3rd Eye motherboard.

physical hardware install complted without error, the drive is a SATA device which is recognized during boot. Nero, Roxio and NCH express burn all has drive under menu but keep ejecting disc asking for a new blank disc or hanging requiring the process to be killed using the task manager. I am using Verbatim LightScribe CD-R 52x media. Visited Abit all drivers and bios are up to date, windows drivers should be adequate for this device. Anyone seen this before or have any suggestion. Just a thought - do you have Alcohol or Daemon Tools installed?

Yes, and use the latest Hyperion Pro drivers from viaarena.com (abit my show an older version).

No , I don’t have either installed. Would you recommend using either one of them?

Update the via drivers if possible.
