when you did the reinstall, did you reinstall the codecs?
I understand the codecs are for viewing media that might be stored
in the DVD, but that is not the problem (at least for this case). The
problem is it does not recognize the contents in the DVD. That is,
when I open the drive in Windows Explorer a window opens, but
nothing shows up. There should be folders, file, etc. but there is
nothing. If I insert a CD it does.
It is as if the DVD unit suddenly has lost its DVD side and all is
left is the CD funcionality.
I’d like to add more technical info in case it might help
Windows XP SP3
MB ASUS P5K
1 IDE (0)
4 SATAs (0, 1, 2, 3)
The SATA HDD is connected to to SATA (0) and the DVD unit
is connected to the IDE (0) using a 80 pin IDE cable. The jumper
connector is set to CS (cable select).
Thanks in advance to any help anyone might give!
