Lg Gsa-H20L: Scans

Hey Guys!
After I had searched a long time which dvdbunrer to buy. I decided to buy the h20l. I looked forward to get the new H10N, but if this drive will be available in my country it will be xmas :doh:
I will post some more scans later. The Problem is i've got "only" a liteon drive for scanning. So i have to scan at 8x? Is that right?
Plz give some further tips and statements to improve my knowledge (also in posting

Yes, as in which model of Lite-On exactly? Quality scanning should be done with Lite-On writers at 4x for most models but there are a few for which quality scanning should be done at 8x. That is why we are asking.

I got a "old" DVD-Rom Drive called LiteOn LTD163 but after frmware update it is a JLMS XJ-HD163 firmware is GH5Y.

I bought real cheap dvd+rw from Medion (phillips 041).
Since yet i burned them only 3times. now i hav done a scan on 4x with my lite on.

here are the results :rolleyes:
not that good (but it is a cheap dvd anyway :iagree: )

^Not accurate.. you need a Lite-On DVD writer, NOT a -ROM drive for accurate scanning. How about you try a CDSpeed transfer rate test?

DVD writers are by now quite common even in notebooks. :iagree: (Even my younger brother has one in his shiny new Everatec Pentium M notebook who has zero experience of CD/DVD burning.)

The only Prob i that the lg is not able to scan....

Hi,

Philips 041 doesn't work very well on my drives (LG 4163B and Benq 1650), too. Also, you bought media labeled "Medion". This is mostly B or C grade. Same is with "Platinum". Stay off of them. But you know that already.
