vbimport

#1

Hey people, my first thread  always read the reviews on the site and bought the LG GSA 5160D

but now ive got of a problem with it :frowning:

while ripping the dvd, at the end an error comes of cannot write disc at once, i even updated it firmware, swithced from firewire to usb connection and still the same thing, i have no clue what to do.

Please help me stop producing coasters :stuck_out_tongue:

/me out

#2

What exactly have you used, software etc.?

The ripping process has nothing to do with burning, just in case.

#3

Just to make it clear :

burning=writing data to a disc
ripping=reading data (usually copy protected) from a disc

If you were actually burning a disc when you got that error message, what brand of discs were you using?

#4

using Nero 7
i ment burning, writting data onto dvd
i got the error msg while burning the dvd
pls tell me of a way i can upload the logfile that nero generated

#5

First update Nero 7, if possible.

Also please post a logfile.

Hi,

Please edit your post in order to remove the serial, that is on top of your logfile. Or ask a moderator to do that.

Michael

sorry, i just pasted the entire log

First, please do what chef suggested and update Nero 7 to the latest version. Early versions of Nero 7 were quite buggy and lot of those bugs were fixed with successive new releases.

Next, from your log, I noticed a lot of lines similar to this :

Do you happen to have Adaptec burning software installed on the same system? I recall reading somewhere that Adaptec and Nero don’t like each other much and installing both can cause problems. (other people who know this for sure, please correct me if this doesn’t apply anymore).

That error message usually means that the media is at fault. CMC MAG E01 burns fine with later models of LG writers, but I’m not sure about how well the 4160B likes it. Could you try and burn with some other brand of discs and see if you get the same problem? I recommend using a rewritable (4x or slower please, I don’t think the 4160B can handle 8x RW discs) disc. This way if the burn fails, you can always erase the disc and reuse it. No need to waste a discs for test burns.

#10

no i dont have any Adaptec burning software, and the problem is after a failed burn the 5160D drive doesnt read the dvd, it just keeps spinning. and it was burning fine before with the same version of nero, but i do have IBM record now on my laptop, in either case this error just came out of the blue :frowning:

#11

Ok, no problem. Does this error only occur with those discs then? Or could you try other discs as well? Because that is the only other possible issue that logs is pointing at.

#12

stil lhaving problems while burning :frowning:

*cant burn disc at once :((

#13

At what media?

DAO is used standardly for DVD media.

#14

philps dvd+r

#15

i found out if i select the option of speed measurement in nero it burns fine

#16

Seems that you have burned them too fast before…
