Hello all, this is my first post and i’m very hungry!
I’ve received as a present a dvd-ram unit, lg gsa-4165. A week ago i’ve installed it on secondary master IDE channel (on slave there is my LiteOn cd writer) and i’ve recorded 2 dvd-r and 1 dvd-rw. Now, two days ago i tryed to record another dvd-r, and the problems have begun:
the drive does not recognize blank dvd-r;
the drive does not recognize written cd;
the drive recognizes only a dvd-rw;
Why this happens? Anything has been changede in hardware or software!
Help me please!
Owning a LG GSA-4165b which works fine I had a similar problem with my GSA_4166B on Pentium and AMD machines!
To solve the problems with the LG GSA-4166b I had to connect it as a single (master) drive on one of my IDE strips. It didn’t accept an other drive (BenQ/hacked Philips DVDR1620 as slave) beside itself. So I’m running the BenQ DW1620 on the 2nd IDE connection. Fortunately I don’t need any of these IDE channels for my hard discs, as these are all SATA drives. But… maybe this should be discussed in another thread.
Did you update the GSA-4165B with the newest firmware? Link for GSA-4165_DL04.exe lgservice
there you have to search at DEVICE DRIVER ==> DVD-ROM, then scrolling down for your drive etc.
