Thank you!

It’s a firmware for Buffalo DVSM-388FB which is Buffalo OEM model of GSA-4082B. Identical in everything except some stickers.

The dvsm388fb_fwa208.exe file contains an HTML file in Japanese with two image files displaying the firmware updating in Japanese in addition to executable GSA4082A2080.exe file. Get either the GSA4082A2080.rar or GSA4082A2080.exe if you only need the executable.

Bah… no bit-setting yet… here’s to A209.

Hey,

I just came across the same problem with my LG drive. Same model, same settings. However, I’m a network guy not a hardware guy, it would be great if someone could walk me through the solution to this problem. Thanks

Welcome.

Be more specific please.

Ofcourse, sorry. I have had this burner (LG: GSA-4040B) for two years and never had a problem with it. It’s been nearly three months since I burnt any kind of DVD disk with it. However now, when I attempt to initiate the burning process for a DVD Data Disk, I get an “Illegal Disk” error. This was first encountered using Nero Burning ROM, but then I tried other programs and firmware updates, nothing has worked. I would very much appreciate some help. Thanks.

This machine is running Windows XP Pro on SP2. The drive reads DVD’s, and can read and burn CD’s. It also hasn’t encountered anything that would damage the interal parts either. Im stumped.

What media are you using? Have you switched media lately?

Alright, I got bored and flashed the drive’s bios. It’s now an LG: GSA-4160B and seems to be working? So my guess is that some type of Windows Update perhaps was conflicting with the device firmware for that model.

Thanks very much everyone here for the help though. :O)

I have tried to use the firmware on my drive but it still says region 2 & 1 change left on the region indicator, i’m stumped. i have downloaded all of the suggestion i.e a208, a209 and even some earlier versions a204 for example. i used this site http://tdb.rpc1.org/#ND2500A to download the firmware. can anyone help to change my drive to “not specified”

well… you should be happy because almos every body have the same problem… i can burn CD’s with files or Images, but when i try to burn files on a DVD at DAO i get an error… maybe is product of some M$ update… because is imposible that all the recorders of the world has stop to work properly
