LG GSA 2166D burning error

#1

Hi guys, is there anyone experiencing the same problem? I bought this LG GSA 2166D external driver a couple weeks ago, it works fine the first night and I haven’t used it again until today and it stops working and act weird.

I’m connecting it to my laptop so I constantly plug/unplug it from my laptop (BTW, does anyone knows how to turn this thing off??) I wonder if that’s the problem. Anyway today the external drive starts to act weird, sometimes it only recognize CD, sometimes it can read DVD, and the worst part is I can’t get it to burn DVD anymore. It won’t get pass the lead-in process at all and usually either freak-out completely (I have to turn it off to stop it) or it fails at 3% and give me a burn error message.

I use Nero burning software 6.6.1.4 that comes with the drive. I’ve attached the Nero error message below, can someone help me out? Thanks in advance!

#2

Your drive doesn’t like the media.

Search for an firmware update and try with Verbatim media.

#3

But I was able to burn DVD with the same media the first day I got the burner, and I think I’ve the most up-to-date firmware (1.01, there’s no update available) can someone help or I’m going to refund the burner, thanks!

#4

Refund and try Samsung 18X external drive.
