I built a Vista 64bit computer and put this LG burner in it hoping it would perform as good as an IDE DVD Burner. So far it hasn’t. Is there something I am missing. The slow part is the ripping. By the time it finishes the rip has finally climbed to 6.5 mps in 12 minutes. My old Plextor IDE DVD did much better, like 5 or 6 minutes for the same job. I use RiDATA 8x media for the burn and it will go at 8x without an error.
It’s not your media but the driver for the GH22LS30. I have the same problem.
If you look at your device manager, you will see that the OS is using a standard CD-ROM/DVD driver, not LG.
I contacted LG and they said they are investigating the issue and it may have something to do with the chipset. I have an i7 940.
So you cannot use Lightscribe or burn above 4x with vista 64. But if you use vista 32, I was able to burn up to 16x dvd and lightscribe with the same drive
But I’m not going back to 32 bit. So I have a slow drive (4x) without lightscribe.
