LG GH20NS10 sticking during burning

Hello, first post here but I’ve frequented as a guest to gain some knowledge on drives. That being said, I just bought an LG GH20NS10 drive and have been unable to get it to complete any discs. I’m using verbatim DVD+R media and made 3/3 coasters so far. I wanted to see if I could troubleshoot it before deciding to send it back to newegg for a replacement to see if it’s just a dud. The first burn failed, and since then it won’t get above 8% before just sticking there. I’ve used both nero and alcohol, and tried lowering the burn speed with no success.
I’m running:
XP SP2
Asus mobo

I can’t remember all my specs b/c I’m at work (fairly new setup) but can fill in the blanks on software versions too when I go home for lunch in an hour or so. Any insight on helping me out with this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Doesn’t really say much, as far as I can see, but maybe someone else can see something. It will read discs fine by the way.

Nope, something is wrong with the content/image file.

I don’t know though because I’ve tried multiple .iso images which work normally. I just tried fedora 8 and it stopped at 1.2% and gave me an image loading error. then when it spun down everything locked up and I had to do a hard reset.
editIt gave the same message as in the previous log dump I posted.edit

I just tried with Nero CD.DVD Speed and it also stopped after 418MB. DVD is still spinning. I attached disc info and where the burning just stopped.

With it freezing @ the same point w/ each burn – have you tried different media dvd /cd? maybe just a bad batch of discs?

#7

It will freeze at various points, but never will get above 8%. I also got my roommate to burn the same image with the same media, no problem. I’ve already requested a replacement from newegg so I guess within another week or two I’ll see for sure if it was defective. Thanks for trying to help though.
