[qanda]This thread is about the LG GGC-H20L. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I have the LG GGC-H20L, and the following specs:
- Intel Core 2 Quad 6600
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 RAM
- PNY Geforce 8800GT graphics card
- Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW monitor (supports HDCP)
- Vista Ultimate x86
My LG drive can play and burn DVDs perfectly, and plays the one HD-DVD that I've bought (300) beautifully.
However, when I stick in David Attenborough's Planet Earth on Blu-Ray, Vista shows an empty drive in Windows Explorer. The drive shows up as "HD DVD-ROM Drive" in Computer...no mention of Blu-Ray in its properties. WinDVD 9 which I bought to play HD-DVDs/Blu-Rays just does nothing when I select the drive (F:). The blue light flashes for a few seconds, but the disc doesn't spin up quickly like it would with a DVD or HD-DVD.
The firmware on the drive is version 1.03.
Does anybody know why my drive would fail to read Blu-Ray discs? Some people seem to have had problems reading Planet Earth in particular on this drive, so if thats the problem I could try another disc.
Thanks in advance!
