Hai Folks,

i´m new in this forum an i need some help.

i tried to update my firmware of my GCE8181B burner from 1.00 to 1.05.

while doing this the computer crashed and rebooted.

now the drive is down - not even the bios recognizes it.

is the drive now gone for ever or is there a change to rescue it??

Hardwarework is no porblem for me if neccesary.

thank you

Fortunately, the 8481B is a MediaTek-based drive. So you should be able to recover the drive. If you open up the “GCE-8481B105(win).exe” as a zip file (using WinZip or WinRAR), you should be able to extract a file named “JE6LG105.HEX”. Using this file and MtkFlash, you should be able to restore your drive.

Dear Code65536,

thank you very much for your help.

In the meantime i have found my own solution.

I used MTKWINFLASH in the EIDE-Mode because not even
my bios recognized the drive.

But in EIDE-Mode MTKWINFLASH could flash the bin-file i downloaded from
CLUBCDFREAKS directly.

Now its working again - with the downloaded bin-files from your site.

Thanks for your great support an your huge knowledge-base.

Club CD Freaks is outrageous - please go on like this.

Bye
