LG GBC-H20LI BD Rom good work with xp?

Have heard of alot of issues with xp. I have a BFG 9800 gt and a Samsung Syncmaster 216bw,both are hdcp compliant. Would this drive work for playing blueray discs with xp sp3? Thanks

There is no problem with XP. The only problem with this drive, as well as other SATA drives (DVD and Blu-ray) is compatibility with motherboard’s SATA controller. If your motherboard’s Southbridge is NVidia, there is a chance that it’s not compatible. If your motherboard SATA controller is Intel, it should work fine. Again, this drive will work on XP.

It is indeed an nvidia chipset,680i. Thanks

Your best bet is to get a fairly cheap PCI SATA controller with Silicon Image Sil3114 chipset like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124020

It is a SATA 1.5Gbps but it’s more than enough for DVD/Blu-ray drives or older SATA harddrives.

That seems like an easy solution, unfortunately I don’t have a free pci slot.
