Lg combo DVD gsa 4081A firmware issue

Ok I have had somebody try and update the firmware on my lg dvd burner with is the 4081A the prob. is during the process an error showed up and now I cannot use the drive.
When I go to reload the firmware I get the following:

E: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4080B COR1

Current Version New Version
COR 1 A101

Updating was failed. Please repeat that. (Error data = 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

So as you can see the drive is now usless
If someone knows how to fix this could they please let me know.

Welcome.

The drive is still alive if it shows that error message. Which firmware did you use under what environment?

Not to sure which one it was, as it was my son who was doing it.
but in the prop. field it says it is now a
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4080B SCSI
It was loaded under windows xp
Both of my burners are showing up as scsi and I don’t have a scsi card?

Ok I figured it out there was an issue with the ide drivers on my motherboard, i reinstalled them and got rid of the scsi issue. I reinstalled the A401 auto exe and everything is fine again.
Just goes to show not all issues come from updates.
Thanx for the help.

IDE drivers are far more complicated than firmware I think. None of my PCI add-on IDE cards are very stable. :disagree:
