LG Burner not burning any Blue RAY Disk

I have bought LG GGW-H20L Super Multi Blue - Sata BD Writer. I have put the same into a usb-Lacie DVD casing making it an external BD writer for my MAC system as i cannot hook it internally into MAC cox i dont have SATA connectivity for this writer. MAC only gives IDE connectors for Optical Drives

I have used Cyberlink/Encore4/setupimgburn softwares but havent been successful to burn a BD in DATA/Video BD/Disk Image mode.

pls guide & advice me how should i go ahead thru the Encore CS4 way. I have installed Vista on MAC PRO TOWER with help of boot camp s/w

I have the ONLY BD-re disk available that came free with the LG BD writer. its a 2x speed 25GB disk. i have tried it at 1x & 2x speeds but the errors i get never allowing me a disk writability !

The firmware is also updated to #5 … it recognises all DVDs & i dont know about BD as i dont have any BD-ROM neither have i been able to create one. When i tried to format the BD thru Vista utility it didnt get erased.

PLS HELP !

Who says that BD burner would work in such a dvd external??

Is it not burning ANY Blu-ray disk (as in your title) or just the LG BD-RE that came with the drive?

There are many reports about issue with the LG BD-RE disk so I would suggest you try another disk.

Hi ALL,
I did another change & as a trial i went to a studio who have newly installed Adobe Encore Cs4 on Mac Pro Tower …

I had to do few mods to my LG writer (as an internal drive )on MAC there are only IDE ports for Optical drive

  • As my writer is SATA i had to get one dongle which will connect to the SATA port of my writer & at the back of port it gives me Female IDE port also the IDE cable from MAC MoBo is Female so i made another Male-to-male IDE cable to mate both my burners female ide cable to mobo female IDE cabel

Diagrammatically it like this

LG Writer -> sata Port -> dongle which converts Sata to IDE-> female IDE cable pout> male-to-male IDE connector->mobo female IDE connector

Hope i am clear here

After that i went thru Simple asset import as mpeg2 m2v file put it on timeline & had the time line as first play there when i press build for BD Disk Encore went into infinite mode of saying “INITILISING BURN” what is wrong here …

how can i ever burn BD on MAC with my LG blue Ray burner on LG-BD-RE disk thru encore. ( i dont eve have another brand or make of BD-RE or R apart from the LGbdRE supplied one in my market so down trodden place i had to get it rhu someone from city, pls dont make fun on it :frowning: ! i dont have 7 will not have access to any other softare for BD writing. i had tried freeware PC based s/w to zero results.

when i checked my two ODD DVD writer in IDE connection & BD writer in SATA connection onboard SATA connection i see this in Disk UTILITY Disk

for HL-DT*** the LG BD writer burn support is said to be Unsupported. Can any one help me as i installed the Toat 10 with HD upgrade & tried to erase the BDRE disk it went on endlessly so i had to kill the program & then i tried to burn the ISO on BDRE then it rendered the file thereafter Toats is showing formatting 0% with time left as 00:37 but this mini screen is there on screen for last half hour. Pls advice as to how much time will it take to write a simple 5minute mpeg2 rendered without any audio in no menu mode on a BDre disk on LGHL20 BD writer.now

This is very much uncalled for.

Because no one has tried a jumbled mess of a hookup as you have devised you can’t possibly expect an answer on something no one else has experienced.

So then you fixed the problem but your not sharing what you did to fix it?
