I can not say how it looks in these models .On today do not have access to them.
LG BH16NS55 seems that there is no RipLock … (read DVD-Video)
THX for your confirmation! :iagree:

#164

BH16NS55 with firmware 1.01 seems to be riplocked…30 minutes for reading an 8 GB dvd…
A 32 GB blu-ray was ripped in 20 minutes…

Sorry if I missed the answer to this question. Is there a second gen BH16NS48? I have one from November 2015 with Mediatek MT1959UWDN.

What’s the SVC Code on the top of the drive? Reference/example of where to see this information without dumping the firmware:
[from post 4, third picture] On the lower right of the long rectangular sticker, you see “SVC CODE: NS55”.

(If you dump the firmware, you might find the SVC Code in a similar location as depicted in Post #3…
Technically drives are identical, it also looks bootcode firmware is identical NS50 …
Probably the same bootcode is LG BH16NS50?
If you find something other than NS48, do let us know.

[Given that you say the processor is a …UWDN, which was shared by all the first gen drives, I expect it would be a first-gen drive, an original NS48.]

#168

Thank you, Albert. There are no SVC Codes on the label, so it must be a first generation drive.

I just installed my BH16ND55 (mfd: December 2015) and it came with Firmware version 1.01.

LG Toolkit (i.e. the LG Autoupdater) shows nothing new available for this model:

I have made a raw dump of the firmware (v.1.01) if anybody needs it. It is zipped at:

Is there a newer version or one that has rip-lock / rpc settings or some other additions? I can’t seem to find any in the usual firmware threads.

Proceeding to do burn tests…

#170

Blu-ray drives have never had patches for firmware. Everything has been stock. The most we can do is crossflash, depending on the circumstances.

edit: that is to say, no, no better firmware exists.

Burner: LG WH16NS55 (firmware 1.01) at 4x
Disc: That’s BD-R DL 50GB 1-4x (MEIT02 001)
Scanner: LiteOn iHES208 (at 4x) in Opti Drive Control

#172

Halcyon, thank you very much for the 1.01 dump!

Just for clearing: your drive is labeled as BH16NS55, or WH16NS55?

Sorry, BH16NS55. Thanks for spotting that.

#174

Is there a change to make disc quality scans with the lg bh16ns55?

#175

I bought LG Last week with 1.01 firmware (MF date is December 2015) HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH16NS55 1.01
Opti Drive Control 1.70: Drive does not support this function

#176

For now, the only known LG BDRE drive capable of scanning is a special variant of first generation BH/WH16 drives known as WH16NS48DQ/DUP. Firmware from first generation drives cannot be used on these second generation drives.

@czary2mary1

Hi, I’ve bought today the BH16NS55 drive, but I’ve found the 1.00 firmware (I hoped to have the latest one like the 1.01).

I’ve dumped firmware using the devilsclaw’s LG Renesas Utility, but I can’t flash it. I assume it is normal. Can you help me in finding the new firmware and if is possible to flash it ? Thanks in advance.
Sorry, BH16NS55. Thanks for spotting that.
Thanks for sharing your firmware. I haven’t noticed before yet. Sorry.

But do you know how I can update mine (1.00) to the latest one (1.01) ?

#179

Thanks to everyone for not answering at all at my request, I solved for my own.

#180

My my, so quick to assume those who you’ve replied to had a chance to see your message.

How did you solve it?
