Burning TY DVD+R at 4X results in a quality burn. Nero didn’t have a 4X option. I made a copy of the disc from a previous run using IMGBurn and burnt it 4X that’s why the log output below shows 8X write speed.

The MCC looks not great, but the MKM is awful. This drive should do better

So I bought this drive to be able to do blueray scanning. Can someone please point me to a link where to download the 1.V1 (or later) firmware as .bin?
I’m aware I have to use the patched dosflash32.
I guess I also have to use the eeprom mover to move the calibration data (serial#, etc.) from my dump to the to-be-flashed bin, right?

Look for ‘Clean_NS50_compatible_firmwares’ in 1st post

Thanks for the reply, but I did that first, before posting. The archive does not contain 1.V1 or any WH16NS58 DQ/DUP firmware, unless I’m missing something.

My apologies… only caught part of the model. A quick search didn’t turn up much, so hopefully someone else will have something more useful.

Actually, the referenced archive contains ‘flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_BH16NS58_1.00’ & my understanding is that the difference between BHx & WHx models is retail/boxed vs OEM, SHOULD work?

Nope, one needs the special 1.Vx firmware for quality scanning to work.

Anyone recently bought one? I saw different pics of the top of the drive.

The one looks like mine

This one looks like the actual DVD-writers

If someone want to try modified version of QpxTool 0.7.2, there’s a link: https://github.com/artkar0/qpxtool
In the built dir are binaries for win x64 and linux debian stretch.
This version adds possibility of scanning blu ray discs quality on LG BH16NS55 with loaded firmware dedicated for WH16NS58 (ver V5).
Also adds support for BDXL.
I also changed a bit the graph style.
