Note: this thread is for the pre-2015 BH/WH14NS40. The drive is labeled with a SVC code of NS40.

If the drive is labeled with a SVC code of NS50, it is based on the updated BH16NS50/16NS55. Discussion for the second generation is here: http://club.myce.com/f91/lg-bh16ns50-bh16ns55-2nd-generation-bh-wh14ns40-svc-code-ns50-2015-a-340457/

Rather off-topic I know, but jadburner, what Plextor drive have you exactly got there? That firmware is much newer than any other PX-LB950SA firmware I’ve seen … can you do a dump please?

I wonder if your drive is Plextor’s iHBS212 equivalent of all those post July 2011 iHBS112 drives which now come with PLxx firmwares instead of CLxx firmwares.

I presume the drive is LightScribe enabled?

cvs - Yes, I’m pretty sure the drive is an iHBS212 equivalent. The exact model number is PX-LB950SA-26, with a manufacturing date of December 2011. The drive is LightScribe enabled. PM me and I’ll e-mail the firmware + EEPROM dumps.

Hello all,

I just bought this drive. I’m not knowledgeable enough to read the charts above. Does this drive perform reasonably well?

I haven’t done a lot of burns yet on this drive, but so far it looks to be on par with the WH12/BH12 series of drives from LG. Which means it should be a very good burner with the right media. So far I can say that it likes Falcons and INFOMER30s.

Nice to hear. What is the max burn speed with the Infomedias?

#14

can this drive scan? is there any utilities to modify the settings or firmware?

#15

hmm, slow DVD-video read speed

Only 8x, like the BH12/WH12 series.

The drive will not scan. I have not checked to see if MCSE works with this drive yet.

hmm, maybe i should return this thing, compared to my BDR-205 is starting to annoy me.

even the tray seems more wobbly and motor is whinny compared to the pioneer.
