Similar to many other posters I had severe problems with my new GSA-4167B, version DL 10. It would read CDs and DVDs and burn CDs. Yet trying to burn a DVD (DVD-R, DVD-RW) or just simulate burning one caused my rather aged system to crash every time ((P III 800 Mhz, 512 MB Ramm, Via VT82C694X, Rage 128 Pro / 32MB, 2 x IBM 60GB at 7200RPM, Award Modular Bios v6.00PG, Windows 2000 SP 4, DirectX 9, Nero 6.6)
After what I’ve read in others threads I was just about buying a stronger PWU. Luckily I tried to install newer VIA drivers before. The Version 455vp1 of VIAs 4in1Driver did it for me:
I can burn DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs without problems now. Just wanted to share in case other users are stuck with antique VIA chipsets, too.
