LG 4040b Cannot Copy Dvd without read error

I have purchased a LG 4040b dvd writer, since purchasing this I am having problems copying dvd’s. Using nero it gets to between 80 and 100% the comes up read error. If I use on the fly the disc sometimes it plays ok. I’ve tried changing the ide, updating firmware to a302, different burning software, different media ,different burn speeds, nero registy checker. I also tried copying the discs with on someones elses computer and this works fine so its not the original media. The only thing left is to send it back(as I cannot get a reponse from Lg).
I would be gratful for any help

thanks

hi … I have the same problem

if you gat some fix for this can you post here ?

thanks…

cyberwillis

I sold my lg4040b and purchased a pioneer A06 when I copied on the fly I was still getting errors but when I used the a06 and made an image first It worked, I then binned my LG 8160B DVD rom and installed a sony DDU1612.Everything is now working fine My conclusion is that LG drives have to many read errors so copy your dvd from a drive other than an LG. I wish I had changed my dvd rom drive first as this would have cost me less money to resolve.

I had the same problem!!

well I only have the 4040B and copying files from the HD was no prob, but isos and movies would generally mess up and roll coasters but I found a very good solution.

I looked at NERO ( any version, I’m using 6.3.0.0 ) and when I burn a DVD it wont let me select burn-proof, but when it’s a cd that option is there. so to create a movie that lets me use the burn-proof option I use AutoShrinkIso which needs DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter does the actual burning and it lets me select the burn-proof option. I just figured this out last night after about a week of fighting, so try it out and let me know how it goes! Goto: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/autoshrinkiso/ and it tells you everything you need to make a primo lookin movie!

Kurtis

Weell in my case i’ve the same problem but the read erros appear always in the end of the movie. I really dont know i will put that wrirtter on the trash :frowning:
