PC manufacturer Lenovo warns for a zero-day vulnerability in the UEFI driver of its ThinkPad laptops for which no security patch is available. The vulnerability allows an attacker to execute code through System Management Mode, a administration layer with many privileges that normally is only accessible by the CPU.

Lenovo has done more to end the PC/laptop market than even Microsoft could imagine.


I must say it really comes forth as development ‘by the kitchen sink’, and nowhere near professional.
Anyone still remember when this was owned by IBM back in the day? Sturdy, seemingly forever lasting in terms of hardware… Not much left of that ideology, that’s for sure :frowning:
