First, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Second, a short but difficult Legacy IDE mode + SATA HDD only/no PATA HDD connected question:
As we all know on modern motherboards (965P/P35/P45) there is Legacy IDE (for old OS like 95, 98 etc.), Native IDE (for more modern OS like xp for example) and AHCI.
Now is the following behaivor normal or some defect or bug (all optical drives are disconnected in the following question):
A P35 motherboard is set to Legacy IDE mode and has only a SATA drive connected. It has no PATA drive connected. After every AC power off the board does hang and produces a POST code 75 error (afaik a search for IDE device and not found error). Then strangely, after a reset from error 75 it always completes POST without error. It does so as long as there's no AC power off again.
Is this normal?
It normally doesn't matter nor does it to me, but this behaivor would mean for example that one could not install and/or use Win98 for example on a modern P35 + SATA HDD only computer without having a reboot from a POST error after every AC power off. Can this really be normal?
