LDW-401S Max Speed 2.4 according to Nero?

I have Nero 6.0.0.19 and using good quality 4x speed disks (well they cost quite a lot anyway! - Bulkpaq Generation 4) . I have a speedyish machine. XP2600 processor and a gig of Ram on an Asus A7N8X mobo runnig WinXP with all latest drivers etcetera.
So why so slow at burning DVD’s? Any settings I can alter to get it up to speed? Thanx.

In my opinion: Bulkpaq is usually the cheapest low quality stuff available.

Guess your problem will disappear by using other DVD+R media. Btw is this your discs?

This is just beefed up 2.4X discs, and they are crap quality as well, tested with 3 different DVD writers and they fails in one and is partiallyt unreadable if written in the other two…

Stay away from bulkpaq DVD media :Z :Z

Well, I’m new to DVD burning so I didn’t know about the best media. There were some cheaper ones made by the same company but I went for the dearer ones. They do say x4 on the disks themselves and are white label with a pinky/purple colour dye. Not sure how you got that detailed information?
Anyway, thanks, and can you recommend a good quality x4 to buy next time please?

Yeah, I have the same discs here, works at 4X in some drives…but works bad at 4X…

About all other 4X DVD+R discs should be good:

Arita
Traxdata
Memorex
TDK
ritek
verbatim
plextor
infiniti
fujifilm
maxell

this is just some brands  -remember, get DVD+R discs, not DVD-R…

Just my soddin’ luck I picked the only ones that are crap! LOL!
Thanks for your help, appreciated.

I just got a couple of these discs, and they are indeed limited to 2.4x on the LDW-401S. They burn at 4x on a friend’s Nu Tech 8x Burner. I haven’t burned any yet.
