Yo-

Try some Taiyo Yudens - you’ll never buy crap media again-

Mike

I bought a spindle of 50 Laser 8x DVD-R at the weekend with the new azo dye.
It looks like they might have changed their media suppliers for the better

LoL its a fake media code. Expect worse burn quality than with its’ real media code (of whichever crap manufacturer it really is)

It’s hard enough to find TY media at all in some parts of the world, so the chances of laser (notorious for pathetic quality) to have real TY is virtually impossible.

On the other hand these might be earlier gigastorage batches, which might burn ‘ok’ on some better burners. still far from TY.

You’re probably right but it is just possible that they are TYG02s if price is any guide.

A store near me at work stocks Lasers. Price for 4x -Rs (Princo) is $35.00au for a spindle of 50. (They’re terrible btw.)

However, price for 8x -Rs is $100.00au for spindle of 50 (which is hardly cheap).

The 8x -Rs are nearly 3 times the price of the 4x -Rs and that’s about the price differential that I’d expect as between 4x Princo and 8x TY so it’s possible that they really are TYs.

Uh, I thought TY WERE NOT AZO. I have to agree that those are probably fakes. I don’t trust the TYG02 code unless it comes on a batch of discs that comes straight from TY themselves.

To give you an idea of how cheap these are, we carry laser media at my work. They are made in China, and I can get a 100 pack at 15 bux at staff. Now tell me, would you trust ANY media that costs 15 cents each. And just so you know, this is in Canadian funds. Too cheap for my blood. Maybe as shiny coasters, but NOT for my precious anime.

Oops! My bad. :o

I went for a stroll at lunchtime and checked the price. $13.00au for 10 not $100.00au for 50 (confused them with a different brand).

No way that they’re genuine TYG02 at that price.
