its got a file called ‘runme.exe’ a dvd-r launcher by truscont ltd on it. cant find any workarounds on it via google. the other files on it are all pdf’s that if icopy paste or save them to hard drive they become corrupt.
any ideas how i get around this?? im not wanting to scratch it and render it unuseable, and in a workshop environment its a distinct possibility

#2

Maybe Hexalock protected, please have a look here.

#3

No you can’t copy the files to a HDD as they are encrypted (not currupt) and the security app decides who can view them and how. Could be Hexalock DVD, but a lot of companies do this PDF crap.

Have you tried making a disc copy onto another disc? If not try Alcohol. If it’s Hexalock DVD there should be some unreadable sectors at the end of the disc, just WeakSectors and you can’t write those as bad as they’ll be 0000…maybe Alcohol can emulate it?

Maybe you can make a working copy, but w/o extensive hacking you’re not going to free these files.

EDIT: I was writing this before Terramex posted that link, looks like that will kill hexalock so give it a try.

#4

What’s the backup for?

#5

@tubebar
I wasn’t aware you were about to “in between post”
Will return to asynchronous posting mode now by steadily hitting F5.

Actually it should have been me who pressed F5 - you posted first

#7

ty terra, rev 1+2 did the trick.
tubebar, i tried demontools, alcohol and virtual clonedrive to emulate nothing worked, and quite a few casters were made trying to just copy the disc as it was.

chef : the backup is for land rover workshop manuals, the garageisvery dirty and cds dont tend to last to well. so im going to just have the files sitting on the pc in the workshop, a backup disc and the original disg in a sealed bag in the dvd box.

my hats of to goldstar for the proggy, well done that man. and terra for poting me there.

#8

So it has worked?

Congrats!

#9

Thank you for the reference.

#15

Thanx it’s work ^^

#16

same problem i am having please post the solution

#18

It looks like Terramex (Post #2) gives a solution (years ago) and Post #7 gives a few more details.

#19

Hey!

  1. You should download the attached files from here:
    http://club.myce.com/f80/hexalock-204559/index7.html#post2505959

  2. If you use Win7, maybe have to download comdlg32.ocx and MSWINSCK.ocx from the web. These files you have to copy to C:\Windows\System32.

  3. Unpack Revision 1 and 2 and Run as Admin the Acrobat file…

  4. First, you have to Browse the source directory eg.: C:\Temp (where you have to save the file from the protected disc…), after you have to browse the target file from the CD…

  5. Enjoy!
