Kprobe problems with lite-on ldw-411s

When I try to run kprobe’s write strategy, I get the following pop-up box: “error, disc is empty” . I’ve upgraded ASPI from 4.60 to 4.71, removed Intel’s PCI IDE controller driver and tried the standard W2K PCI IDE controller driver. It will read the media correctly on disc info, and identifies the drive correctly in the pull-down box. What wrong??? TIA

Probably stupid question but: The disc in the drive do contain data, right?

With a coaster or an empty disc you will get this error message.

Empty disc or the wrong drive is selected in the drop-down box.

The disc is blank, but I thought write strategy writes data to the disc?? What data do I write to the disc?

u write whatever u want onto the dvd, preferably filling it all the way up. kprobe basically tests the integrity of the burn.
